FACES OF PENN FOSTER

“I didn’t think that studying at home was for me, but when I was presented with the opportunity to try it, I chose Penn Foster Career School. I enrolled in the Wildlife/Forestry Conservation Program. I spend a lot of time outside in the local park, so I don’t know if I found this topic, or if it found me. I study in the park most every day and became familiar with the park manager and employees. Because of my studies and the knowledge I’ve gained from the Wildlife/Forestry Conservation Program, I am now a Park Ranger. I will probably enroll in another Penn Foster program when I complete this one. As it turns out, I like studying. It opens your eyes to a lot of things.”     —YADEAN D. of Ra’anana, Israel

Terry S. of Key West, Florida

Terry Shortt graduated from the Hotel/Restaurant Management Career Diploma Program offered by Penn Foster Career School in February of 2009 with an overall average of 91%. After retiring from a 20-year military career and then once again, 20 years later, retiring from his post-military career as a real estate agent, Terry decided to launch a “post-retirement” career in the hospitality business. He secured a job in a hotel and received a thorough understanding of the Hotel/Restaurant business through a combination of work experience and the training that he received from Penn Foster. Terry is married with five grown children and enjoys many hobbies such as bike riding, sailing, and scuba diving. The hospitality business gives him the opportunity to live in wonderful places near the ocean and still remain a productive member of the workforce. He believes he was fortunate to find Penn Foster’s training program, which fit so perfectly into his plan and made it possible for him to live his dream—even at the age of 61.
