CHANGING LIVES THROUGH ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE EDUCATION

Vicki Warnet, Penn Foster Pet Groomer Graduate

Student Spotlight — VICKI W.
Pet Groomer Graduate

Some programs at Penn Foster are simply perfect for some people. That can certainly be said about Vicki, graduate of the Pet Groomer program and an accomplished owner of a grooming/boutique. Vicki opened Pawberry Patch Grooming and Boutique in February of 2008, known for its unique, relaxed atmosphere. Pawberry Patch is located in a charming 140-year-old building. According to Vicki, her boutique is the start of a “new adventure.”

“What more could I want? I’m doing
what I love in a place that I love.”

Vicki studied pet grooming with Penn Foster and now specializes in dog grooming. The Pawberry Patch grooming process includes a bath, haircut, ear-and-teeth cleaning, and ends with a massage. (Pawnail coloring is an option, if it suits your fancy.) Throughout the process, Vicki puts on music to relax her clients (the dogs, that is): proof that Vicki has found a profession she can feel good about while at the same time enjoying her work. Pawberry Patch will participate in a Fall fundraising event, “Howl-A-Ween,” and plans to donate half of the proceeds to an association whose goal is to build a local dog park. I can’t wait to see all the dogs dressed up and I know we are helping a good cause.”

Penn Foster is proud to have a graduate like Vicki, and we encourage everyone to take the opportunity get the education they’ve always wanted.

Featured Program — DIESEL MECHANICS

When Penn Foster is labeled a distance education leader, it certainly is no misnomer. Derrick Bell, a resident of Sand Point, Alaska, turned to Penn Foster’s Diesel Mechanics Program after years of working without any formal education in his field. Derrick is currently enrolled in the Diesel Mechanics program with Penn Foster, but has already reaped many of the benefits that come from distance education.

Does Your Car Smell
Like French Fries?

Maybe it should. Listen to Dave Chameides talk about how he converted two diesel vehicles to run on vegetable oil which he gets from restaurants for free. The only downside, he says, is his car smells like french fries sometimes.
